Clear Aligners in NW Portland
Straighten your smile with clear, removable aligners built from a comfortable 3D scan — no goopy impressions. At Bridge City Orthodontics in NW Portland, we work with multiple aligner systems plus in-office BCO aligners, so the platform fits your bite.
Clear aligners use a series of custom, nearly invisible trays to gently move your teeth — and because they're removable, you can take them out to eat, brush, and floss. At Bridge City Orthodontics, every clear-aligner case starts with a comfortable 3D digital scan instead of goopy impressions, so we capture your bite precisely and, when it helps, can show you a simulated preview of where treatment is headed. (Simulations are for illustration only; actual results vary.)
Because we work with multiple systems — Invisalign, Spark, and Angel, plus in-office BCO aligners we design and 3D-print here for selected cases — Dr. Vo can fit the platform to your bite instead of limiting your options to a single brand. Aligners are a great fit for many adults and teens, but they aren't automatically right for every bite. Dr. Vo plans your case personally and gives you an honest read on whether aligners, braces, or a combination can best meet your treatment goals.

Common questions
What's the difference between Invisalign, Spark, and Angel?
They're all clear-aligner systems, and each has strengths — some tooth movements go more smoothly on one platform than another. Because we work with multiple systems — plus in-office aligners for selected cases — Dr. Vo can choose the option that fits your bite, goals, and treatment plan rather than forcing every case into one platform.
Are clear aligners as effective as braces?
For many cases, aligners can work very well, and a great deal depends on wearing them as directed. Braces still handle the widest range of complex movements and don't depend on wear time. The honest answer is case-by-case: at your free consultation, Dr. Vo reviews your 3D scan and tells you whether aligners, braces, or a combination can best meet your treatment goals.
What are BCO Clear Aligners, and are in-office aligners faster?
BCO Clear Aligners are aligners we design and 3D-print in our own NW Portland office for selected cases. Producing them in-house can shorten the wait between a refinement scan and your next set and can make some replacements easier, because we don't depend on an outside lab. That convenience applies in selected cases and doesn't mean overall treatment is guaranteed to be faster.
Can teens use clear aligners?
Many teens do well with clear aligners, especially when they're consistent about wearing them. Aligners come out for meals, brushing, sports, and instruments, which a lot of families like. Success really comes down to wear time, so Dr. Vo talks honestly with you and your teen about whether aligners or braces are the better fit.
How many hours a day do I wear my aligners?
Clear aligners only work while they're in, so most plans call for wearing them about 20–22 hours a day — essentially all the time except for eating, drinking anything but water, and cleaning your teeth. Consistent wear is the single biggest factor in staying on track, so the more faithfully you wear them, the smoother your treatment.
Will clear aligners affect my speech?
Some people notice a slight lisp for the first day or two as their tongue adjusts, and it usually settles quickly. Because the trays are thin and smooth, most patients find any change is minor and temporary, and others won't even notice you're wearing them.
What should I do if I lose or break an aligner?
Call or text us right away so we can advise the next step — often wearing your previous set or moving to the next one while we arrange a replacement. Don't simply skip ahead on your own, since that can affect your progress, and in some cases a new scan may be needed.
